Civil Engineer, PE – Boston Office

Beals + Thomas is seeking an experienced Professional Civil Engineer licensed in Massachusetts for our Boston office.  Assignments will include performing and supervising research, site and roadway layout and grading, water and sewer system design, utility design, stormwater management design, earthwork quantity analysis, subsurface investigations and construction cost estimating.


The ideal candidate for will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in site/civil engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Valid Massachusetts PE License

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Significant experience with the design and permitting of medium to large development projects in Massachusetts

  • Proficiency with the MassDEP Stormwater Management Handbook

Land Surveyor(s) – Southborough Office

Beals + Thomas is seeking a Land Surveyors/Office Technicians, who enjoy working in a fast-paced, state of the art, professional environment based out of our Southborough office. Successful candidates will possess leadership abilities to manage survey assignments in the field, and provide office survey support.


The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in the performance of boundary, topographic, utility and construction          layout surveys

  • Experience as a Field Survey Chief or Party Chief

  • Experience with total stations and data collectors

  • Experience with GPS, GIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred

  • SIT registration and a Bachelor's degree in surveying or related fields will be considered highly advantageous.

Senior Planner, AICP – Boston, Southborough or Plymouth Office 

Beals + Thomas is seeking an energetic and dynamic Senior Planner to assist our design teams with managing the permitting processes for public and private sector land development projects and to address municipal and other planning projects.  Assignments will include the evaluation of project compliance with applicable local/state/federal regulations; preparation of environmental impact reports; preparation of application packages for submittal to approving authorities; attendance at evening meetings and hearings with local boards and commissions; and, addressing municipal and other planning projects.  The Senior Planner will also be involved in the pursuit of business development opportunities, and will assist in preparing proposals.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • AICP certification

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Planning or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of Planning experience

  • Demonstrated successful pursuit of municipal planning projects is highly desirable

  • Significant experience with the evaluation of Massachusetts municipal zoning requirements and local permitting

  • Experience with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and City of Boston permitting, including Article 80

  • Experience with municipal planning projects including but not limited to Master Plans, Open Space and Recreation Plans, and Zoning Revisions 

  • Experience with Chapter 91 Waterways Regulations and other local, state and federal wetlands permitting

  • Knowledge of GIS/ArcView

Wetland Specialist – Southborough Office

Beals + Thomas is seeking an energetic Wetland Specialist to assist our design teams with wetland resource area delineation; local, state and federal permitting; and wetland restoration design. 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Earth Science or related field

  • At least 3 years, but preferably 5 years field and office experience

  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and/or NH Certified Wetland Scientist (CWS) certification preferred

  • Demonstrated success delineating inland and coastal resource areas pursuant to MassDEP and Army Corps of Engineers delineation criteria

  • Experience with local, state and federal wetlands/environmental/land use permitting, including MA WPA, 401 WQC, and Chapter 91 at minimum

  • Experience presenting before Conservation Commissions

  • Knowledge of GIS/ArcView
