AWARDS + RECOGNITIONS

We have completed numerous LEED Certified projects and are currently advancing certification for major projects under the USGBC SITES and Envision programs.

 

Beals + Thomas and our Projects have received the following recognition for our environmental expertise
and stewardship:

The Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCES) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) awards the 2025 Small Employer Recognition Award to Beals and Thomas, Inc. honoring B+T for our commitment to the professional growth of its engineers and encourages active involvement in professional societies.

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Massachusetts awarded a 2025 Bronze Award for Outstanding Professional Design Excellence to Amaya at Suffolk Downs.

The 2023 EBC Nicholas Humber Award for Outstanding Collaboration was awarded to the Cambridge Crossing (CX) team, including B+T, for the redevelopment of 43 acres of former industrial land and rail yards into a vibrant transit-oriented mixed-use urban community.

The Primrose Pond Improvements Project for The Country Club in Brookline received a Bronze Award at the ACEC/MA 2023 Engineering Excellence Awards.

The Cambridge Crossing Roadway and Infrastructure Project received a Gold Award at the ACEC/MA 2020+2021 Engineering Excellence Awards.

Salem received the Community of the Year Award by the American Planning Association - Massachusetts Chapter for “City of Salem: Facing the Future Together: The Intersection of History, Climate Resiliency, and Equity”, which included our wetlands and floodplain regulatory updates.

The Friend of the New England Environment Award by the Environmental Federation of New England for our demonstrated environmental sensitivity to land planning and site design, as well as the advances we made in the design of stormwater systems, wastewater recycling and our environmentally centered design efforts.

The Hanover, MA Master Plan, including the Open Space and Recreation Plan that B+T addressed, received the American Planning Association – Massachusetts Chapter Outstanding Planning Award/Planning Project.

The Massachusetts Low Impact Development Toolkit, which B+T was involved in creating in our capacity as Co-Chair of the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership Water Resources Committee, won an Outstanding Planning Project Award from the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association.

Cronin’s Landing, including the riverwalk for which B+T provided various services, was awarded the Citation for Community Revitalization by the Boston Society of Architects and the American Institute of Architects New York Housing Design Awards Jury.

The Boston Society of Architects Accessible Design Award in the Public Architecture category for the Myra Hiatt Kraft Memorial Footbridge at Elm Park in Worcester, MA.

The EBC Nicholas Humber Environmental – Energy Award for Outstanding Collaboration recognized our team’s efforts to remediate a contaminated boat slip in New Bedford Harbor.
