Charlotte Furnace Solar

Wareham, MA

Beals + Thomas provided environmental due diligence, survey, civil engineering, permitting, and construction administration services for the Charlotte Furnace Solar (CFS) Energy Project in Wareham, Massachusetts. Permitted at 6 MW, the ultimate facility was constructed at 4.7 MW on 30 acres of a 52-acre site. The site is surrounded by active agricultural operations, including cranberry bogs and unimproved sand track access roads. CFS Solar was one of the first solar projects constructed as part of the ADM Tihonet Mixed-Use Development, a mixed-use development spanning three towns, and as such required MEPA and NHESP permitting in addition to the more typical local permits.

Borelli Solar Arrays

New Braintree, MA

Beals + Thomas provided land surveying, site design and permitting assistance for two ground-mounted solar arrays on Barre Road
in New Braintree.

For the 650 kW array, we provided topographic and boundary survey, site design and layout, and local permitting services for the development of the photovoltaic energy system on a 5-acre parcel. We also prepared a Chapter 61A plan, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey plan, construction plans and civil specifications, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and an NPDES NOI and provided construction administration services through successful
completion of construction.

For the 1.3 MW array, we provided wetland delineation, topographic and boundary survey, site design and layout, stormwater management design, photo-realistic renderings, visual impact mitigation and local permitting services for the proposed development of a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic energy system within a 23-acre parcel.
We obtained local permit approvals from the Planning Board and Conservation Commission. Project construction is pending for 2018.
